Input, interaction and inspiration – 150 managers activated online

Our challenge

For the first time in 2020, the annual international conference of Vattenfall’s Business Area Heat for nearly 150 top managers had to be held entirely online. Despite this shift, the event needed to include unifying, inspiring, and diverse elements while maximizing interaction within the program and among participants.

Our solution

inspiranten designed a content-rich yet engaging and dynamic programme. It featured pre-recorded segments such as dynamic TED-style talks by management talents, quick insights, extensive workshops on the future of work, and live panel discussions across borders. The setting was a custom-built, high-tech online studio at Old Smithy’s Dizzle in Berlin, with multiple stage areas. The six-hour program was hosted by Susi Herzberger, an experienced online and offline moderator.

To provide variety, singer and pianist Tom Friedländer fulfilled musical requests during interludes, while business trainer Rachel Brooker led “Stretch & Relax” sessions during virtual coffee breaks to encourage participation.

Participants could explore the program and speakers beforehand, schedule one-on-one meetings, and actively engage during the conference using the EventMobi app. This platform offered numerous opportunities for interaction throughout the event.

The conference concluded with an emotional farewell for Tuomo Hatakka, Chairman of Business Area Heat. The ceremony included surprise elements and a symbolic handover to his successor.

Our success

inspiranten delivered a diverse and tightly scheduled online programme that felt tangible and human despite the physical distance. Through small group exchanges and shared content, understanding among leaders across various European locations deepened. The event successfully fostered connections and engagement while addressing key topics for the organization’s future.
